SHIRUDO Jiu-Jitsu includes many Judo techniques and is a very effective self defence grappling martial art.
Our Jiu Jitsu incorporates a range of techniques, such as joint locks and chokes, to immobilise or to make an opponent submit based on leverage and control.
This makes it easy for a weaker or smaller person to defeat a bigger and stronger opponent in any situation.
At SHIRUDO JIU JITSU Australia we focus on equipping our students with a range of techniques that can be used for self-defence or developing effective competitors.
All levels and ages are welcome.
We host an inclusive environment that offers various options for all, men women, children and families.
Our gym is one of a kind in safety and international standards and we proudly offer the option to have 24/7 access so you can train whenever you like.
We understand that SHIRUDO is a physical sport, but we also encourage the development of values, attitudes and the mental state.
We view SHIRUDO Jiu Jitsu as a lifestyle that when adopted can remarkably change your life.
We have first hand noticed people, especially children, having a more positive and disciplined outlook on life. We love seeing people achieve their goals and striving for new heights.
When Japanese teachers travelled the world and spread their various fighting styles it was not uncommon for even newer forms to emerge.
Jiu Jitsu is credited with developing from Kodokan Judo or Newaza. Because of the innovative style it has become well known and is now defined as it’s own unique fighting form.
This is a fighting style founded on the belief that a smaller person can defend against a larger opponent.
A lot of Jiu Jitsu is actually ground fighting and manoeuvres. This is why it is an ideal self-defence form for anyone, especially women and children.
When dealing with a larger, stronger opponent Jiu Jitsu neutralises a lot of their strength.
Jiu Jitsu often focuses on take-downs without the use of striking. Although it is primarily for self defence, many have come to enjoy it as a sport.
Like most martial arts forms, JIU JITSU is a mentality and way of life as well as physical movement. Focusing on control and careful manoeuvres rather than just brute strength.
